Honda wants to sell you new S2000 reproduction parts

When it comes to heritage parts, Japanese manufacturers are leading the way these days. Mazda now offers restoration parts for first-generation Miatas, while Nissan is building RB26 Skyline straight-sixes again, along with roughly eighty more rare R32, R33, and R34 components. Joining the party, Toyota announced it would reproduce parts for its 3rd and 4th-generation Supras, and now Honda has a response of its own—a parts program for the iconic S2000 roadster.

Honda hasn’t discontinued S2000 body parts, but other bits have left the parts catalogue when the roadster ended production at the end of the 2000s. Now, the brand’s home team is urging you to make a few suggestions on what should make a comeback as a genuine part, simply by posting comments including the hashtag “#S2000PartsCatalog” on Facebook and Twitter. Honda will be listening.

Production of the naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter VTEC-powered S2000 ended on August 19th 2009, and fans have been calling for a worthy followup ever since. Honda is yet to deliver a real followup, instead relying on the Civic Type R as its spiritual successor. However, if you own an original S2000, it should now, at least, be easier to keep the car on the road. Parts from Japan may not come overnight, but they’ll arrive in due time.
