Bollinger announces $125,000 price for 200-mile range, 600-hp truck and SUV

Bollinger, the upstart Detroit-based automaker of two boxy, utilitarian electric haulers, the B1 Sport Utility and B2 Pickup Truck, has announced that both vehicles will have an MSRP of $125,000.

The trucks come with twin motors serving up a combined 600 horsepower, a 120-kilowatt-hour battery good for 200 miles of range, 15 inches of ground clearance, and a 5000-pound payload. That ground clearance comes thanks to portal hubs at each wheel that offer increased clearance without resorting to oversized tires and the payload figure is courtesy of its Class 3 truck underpinnings.

Both truck and SUV packages offer a number of unique quirks and features. (Doug Demuro is gonna have a field day when he reviews one.) With no engine or fuel tank between the front wheels, there’s no need for a firewall, so Bollinger has a pass-through to the front trunk that allows for long objects to be carried in both the pickup and SUV. They both also feature removable roof and side glass for half-door, topless cruising with or without the removable windshield in place.

Production is scheduled to start in 2020, with deliveries beginning in 2021. The company hopes to build 1000 vehicles per year that will be sold at independent dealers in the U.S. and around the world.

Bollinger has an interesting niche carved out for itself, and the company claims it is the first all-electric off-road truck and SUV. Keep in mind, though, a lot can happen in the automotive market in a year. Rivian has inked partnership with Ford to get its electric truck and SUV out there soon, indicating an interesting market for electric trucks and off-roaders is shaping up.
