The mid-engine Corvette C8.R wants to take the racing world by storm

Teased during the new C8 Stingray Convertible’s reveal and launched straight after, the C8.R is the successor to all the loud beasts that helped Corvette Racing to eight Le Mans victories and countless glorious wins all over the world. And now, as the Corvette goes mid-engined for the track as well, Chevy’s silver livery on the number 4 C8.R pays homage to the color of the 1973 Chevrolet Aerovette and the 1959 Corvette Stingray Racer, with a touch of yellow here and there.

The C8.R wearing number 3, however, will wear Corvette Racing’s traditional yellow color scheme with silver accents, continuing the lineage of the instantly recognizable GTLM racing Corvettes of the past 20 years.

Chevy hasn’t released any technical details yet, but it announced that the C8.R will make its competition debut at Rolex 24 at Daytona in January, 2020. Expect it be loud. It’s still a racing Corvette, after all.
