Model overview
Model description
The Cadillac CTS first arrived in 2003, and it was one of the most exciting new Caddies in recent memory. Even more exciting, and somewhat surprising, was the high-performance CTS-V model arrived in 2004. Fast forward a few years, and with the introduction of the second-generation CTS in 2008 it was only a matter of time before a “V” would arrive. The 2009 Cadillac CTS-V delivers on every promise of a potent, head-turning performance sedan that put rivals from around the world on notice.
The CTS-V is powered by a supercharged 6.2L LSA V8 engine, making 556 horsepower and 551 lb-ft of torque. This engine is based on the LS9 V-8 from the C6 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. The LSA routes power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic with paddle-shifters.
Cadillac also provided the 2009 CTS-V with an advanced MagneRide suspension system. Dampers are filled with a special magnetorheological fluid that adjust based on a sensor system that responds to the road every millisecond.
High performance Brembo brakes are found at all four corners, as are 19-inch wheels (9 inches wide in the front, 9.5 the rear), and Michelin Pilot Sport performance tires. The CTS-V visually separates itself from the rest of the Cadillac CTS lineup with a chrome mesh grille, a pronounced power-dome hood, and a far more aggressive lower front valance.
Inside, the CTS-V features a combination of leather and Alcantara upholstery. The alcantara is a type of suede-like material, and provides grip even if your hands are sweating in hard driving. The must-have option to look for are the 14-way Recaro sport bucket seats. These seats are heated and cooled, and provide fantastic bolstering in corners.
